Liberty Head Nickel Mintages

Liberty Nickel mintageMintage levels for the Liberty Head Nickel experienced a wide range during the course of the series. Many issues were struck in abundance and remain relatively available for collectors, while others were struck in smaller quantities and command premiums even for well circulated pieces.

During the series, production primarily took place at the Philadelphia Mint. Coins were struck both for circulation and in proof format for collectors who requested them. In the final year of the series, production also took place at the Denver and San Francisco Mints. These issues had lower mintages.

The table below lists the complete information on Liberty Head Nickel mintages by date and mint mark, for both circulation strike and proof coins.
